"My car just stalled in the middle of the highway——
Do I look alright?”

Wade sat silently next to Sia, listening to her mom and her on the phone. He was almost frozen in place. Not able to move let alone say anything to her.
Her mother was always very supportive of their relationship. Especially when they were in high school and even more so after he got the cancer and kind of became a recluse.
Sia slipped her hand into Wade’s supportively, hoping to help him relax. He seemed tense. Chuckling slightly, she shook her head. “No, no grandkids. We, ah… We’re engaged.” she said, the words rolling off her tongue with an unexpected ease. There was a loud gasp.
"Since when?! When is the wedding?! Oh my god!" Her mother was excited. After years of being like spouses, it was about time they got married.
Wade anxiously waited for the phone to stop ringing. He almost didn’t want her to pick up at all. If it went to voicemail they would just leave a message. Doing this made things feel a bit to real to him.
Jennifer answered after a few rings, and Sia smiled broadly.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Mom, hey! Wade and I have something to tell you." said Sia, looking up at Wade happily. For some reason, she felt nervous about telling her mother the news, but at the same time she was too happy to care.
"What is it? You’re not pregnant, are you? I’m too young for grandkids."
Wade heard his fiance’s voice from their bedroom and was up and out of bed in seconds. He saw her face as he rounded the corner and came at her immediately. Embracing her in a warm hug.
Sia buried herself in Wade’s chest the moment they met, breathing in a deep breath. It had been a long day. “I missed you…” she murmured, her arms snaking around his torso.
